Nelson Acevedo has proudly called Cicero home for over a decade. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Leadership Studies from DePaul University and currently serves as the Parks & Facilities Manager for the Park District of Oak Park. In this role, he has contributed to several key committees, including Sustainability, Innovation, and DEI. He is proud to have secured grants for LED lighting upgrades, HVAC upgrades and EV charging infrastructure. His work also encompasses significant projects such as park playground renovations and advancements in solar, geothermal, and construction, including one of Illinois's second buildings to achieve Net Zero certification. These improvements have been recognized by the Illinois Association of Park Districts with awards for “Best Green Practices” multiple years in a row. Nelson’s deepening passion for parks stems from witnessing their profound positive impact on communities. Outside of work, he cherishes spending time with my family and watching his kids play sports.
